Season 4 of MNEXT aired between June 23rd to XX. It was hosted at the Olympic Gymnastics Arena in Songpa-gu, Seoul, in Olympic Park. The head MCs were soloists Taeyeon and Kai. The season was won by XX with their song "XX", going on to represent South Korea in Season 8 of Melodia:ReImagined in Hamburg.

Following its 4 season hiatus from airing, KBS and MNET had decided to completely change the voting system, the number of entries, and the venues used for the show.

Voting

There were 3 categories of voters, the National Jury, the International Jury, and the online televote, they all had different systems of voting.

National Jury

The National Jury was changed to be spread across the provinces of South Korea, rather than individual cities. They would rank the songs from 1st to 8th, but giving 1st place 8 points and 8th place 1 point, the average points of the songs, times by 10,000, would be the initial starts for the songs. The National Jury consisted of:

  • Seoul - paldosreal.sss
  • Incheon - TNG
  • Daejeon - chromiliaghaztic
  • Daegu - rossoreo
  • Ulsan - jaker.m
  • Busan - ctys0n
  • Gwangju - jceurovisionfan1996
  • Gangwon - toniaczka
  • Gyeonggi - deza.finker
  • Jeju - thejendyz
  • Jeonbuk - wither2706
  • North Chungcheong - namedaftersomemanthatmymomliked_
  • North Gyeongsang - hackingpro61
  • North Jeolla - blueythesharkie
  • South Chungcheong - aspasiaofmiletus
  • South Gyeongsang - lozzol
  • South Jeolla - catslastword

International Jury

The International Jury would divide 8000 points across each of the songs, with a cap of 2500 points for each song and no minimum for the others. Not all of their points had to be used. This was very like the old voting system. The International Jury consisted of:

Online Televote

Much like standard Eurovision, the online televote took place throughout the shows run. Viewers could vote for up to 3 songs that they liked the most. The top 5 songs with the highest percentages of the vote would receive bonus points at the end of the show.
