Season 2 of Melodia Song Contest was hosted in Lugano, Switzerland. The winning country was Australia, represented by Vera Blue with her song "All The Pretty Girls". They scored a total of 89 points in the Grand Final. They managed to beat the runner-up
EVERGLOW with SLAY by just one point.
Information
After Switzerland won the first season of Melodia Song Contest: Reimagined, it was announced that Lugano, Switzerland would host the second season of the contest. Cornaredo Stadium was chosen as the venue for the contest. The first winning song's name, Speak Up, would become the slogan for the edition. Claiming opened on the December 31st, 2023, the last day of the year. Six days of claiming later, 19 hopefuls decided to compete for the title.
There were 5 national selections this edition. Schweiz Selects was used once again to decide the Swiss entrant that would follow DANA's successful run. After South Korea's failed attempt to finish in the top 10 last edition, the HoD created
MNEXT, a national final that called for the next South Korean artist to represent the Asian country. The United States followed a similar path, hosting its first season of
Melodex to find the American voice for MSC Reimagined. In Oceania,
Australia and
New Zealand would find themselves hosting their own respective selections, the winner of the former becoming the contest's next crown jewel. The other 14 countries would opt for internal selections.
The Allocation Draw revealed the running order of the second edition on January 7th, 2024. Greece was randomly drawn to open the contest whereas
Japan was selected to close.
Voting lines officially opened on January 12th, 2024. Most countries voted accordingly, but a turn of unfortunate events led Armenia to withdraw from the contest on January 20th, 2024 due to their ongoing financial issues. Ironically, they were heavily fined for withdrawing during the voting period, a sensitive period during the contest.
Two weeks later on January 26th, 2024, the voting period for Melodia Song Contest Reimagined 2 closed. On January 28th, 2024, the results were announced to the public. After an intense voting sequence and a margin of five points between the top four songs, Australia was named the winner with All The Pretty Girls by Vera Blue and a score of 89 points.
North Korea and
Mongolia rounded out the podium with 88 and 85 points respectively. The host country,
Switzerland, finished in 4th with a score of 84 points.
Norway finished in dead last with 16 points from the jury.
