Season 5 of MNEXT, also known as MNEXT: ReVenge, aired between November 4th to Novermber 20th, 2024. It was hosted at the Daegu Stadium in Suseong-gu, Daegu. The head MCs were soloists Taeyeon and Kai. The season was won by RESCENE with their song "LOVE ATTACK", going on to represent South Korea in Season 12 of Melodia:ReImagined in Lisbon.

Concept

In honour of reaching five seasons of MNEXT, the top 3 of the previous four Seasons were invited back to compete with their newest released comeback song. Due to the number of participants, the Season was split into 2 rounds, First Stage: FIRST REVENGE, and Second Stage: BATTLEGROUND.

The First Stage saw the songs being randomised into 4 groups, one first place, one second place, and one third place. The International juries each voted for one of the songs of the 3 to be eliminated from the competition, with an overall of 8 songs progressing to the next stage.

The Second Stage was the regular MNEXT format, with the National, International, and Online votes all contributing to leave a final score for the songs. The song with the highest points would be the winner of the Season.

Voting

There were 3 categories of voters, the National Jury, the International Jury, and the online televote, they all had different systems of voting for each stage of the competition.

National Jury

The National Jury consisted of all provinces of South Korea. They were not permitted to vote in the First Stage of the competition. In the Second Stage, they would divide 10,000 points across all 8 songs, with a cap at 3,000 for any one song, with no minimum. Not all their points had to be used. This was moved from the International vote in Season 4. The National Jury consisted of:

  • Seoul - paldosreal.sss
  • Incheon - haepuff
  • Daejeon - meuw2022
  • Daegu - TNG
  • Ulsan - whothehellisorestis
  • Busan - blueythesharkie
  • Gwangju - kasvi004
  • Gangwon - thejendyz
  • Gyeonggi - deza.finker
  • Jeju - toniaczka
  • Jeonbuk - ctys0n
  • North Chungcheong - unclearmist
  • North Gyeongsang - twinkmuncher
  • North Jeolla - cqrpses_bride
  • South Chungcheong - wisteriaa
  • South Gyeongsang - shiningnaomi
  • South Jeolla - chromiliaghaztic

International Jury

The International Jury consisted of any countries that wished to vote in this Season. In the First Stage, they could vote on which song would be eliminated from the competition and not move on to the Second Stage. In the Second Stage, they would rank the songs from 1st to 8th. The average place, times by 3,000, would be added on to the scores given by the National Jury. This was moved from the National vote in Season 4. The International Jury consisted of:

Online Televote

The online televote was open from the beginning of the Second Stage, the songs with the top 5 highest votes would receive a bonus based on their ranking.
